Rendez-vous au musée de Cavafy

As promised , here is our interview with Cavafy's musuem 's owner...

1-As a runner of this museum, do you receive more of foreign visitors, or natives and Egyptians ones?

-It is usually foreigners’ especially high social people (classy ones). We hardly ever see Egyptians except for those rare occasions when students come to visit …. Like yourselves!

2- Since this museum is considered a “must” for all visitors of Alexandria. Is there any kind of advertisement made about this museum to the public?

-No, not really except for internet’s advertisement .This museum runs in a self –credit way .Our only income comes from selling the tickets and sometimes from charitable sums given by universities or admirers [which are quite rare actually].

3-As a great Greek poet perhaps the best in the last century …..

Is there any kind of tribute made to Cavafy in his mother country Greece?

-No, absolutely nothing .His flat in Alexandria is the only museum that exists.

Despite the fact that his friend Son Gobbolo transferred most of his possessions to Greece upon his death .He sold everything in auctions

4-Tell us of you most interesting visitors?

- Well, we received the Serbian president, the Greek prime minister, the Turkish president and most of the European culture councils beside, many Greek musicians and poets.
